FREE Learn-to-Curl OPEN HOUSE!

We’re excited to open the ice to the community for a free learn-to-curl event! we also invite our experienced curlers to come and enjoy free pre-season ice time.

SUNDAY Nov. 5 3-7pm AT PACKER ARENA

Do you want to learn how to curl?  You have come to the right place!  The Mower County Curling Club offers Learn-to-Curl events throughout the year.  These classes provide basic instruction for beginners who have never curled before or for those looking to get a little extra practice time to hone their skills.

Whether you are just curious and want to give curling a shot, or whether you are looking to learn the basics to prepare you for League play and beyond, this is the place to start!

Anyone can play regardless of physical ability. We have special stone delivery devices for those who may not be able to comfortably crouch down to deliver (throw) stones and we can accommodate individuals with more significant physical limitations. Contact us with questions about your particular circumstances if you have concerns; we almost certainly will be able to accommodate.

WHAT TO BRING:
All equipment will be provided.  You only need to bring the following:

  • A clean pair of tennis shoes. Please carry these into the club and change once you get here.

  • Warm, flexible clothing. The arena is approximately 40 degrees, so dress warm. You may want to bring a pair of gloves and a hat.

  • Cash or check for registration fees if you’d like to join us for the 2023-2024 League Season

WHAT TO EXPECT:
A Learn-to-Curl class will provide instruction on the basics of curling.  By the end of the class you will know what it means to throw an in-turn draw to the button – and you may even be able to do it!  A typical learn-to-curl event will consist of the following:

  • 15 minutes learning the basic rules of play

  • 40 minutes of on-ice instruction learning how to deliver a stone and sweep a rock

  • 30 minutes of play time

Feel free to just show up at the Learn-to-Curl sessions. For volunteer planning, it would be helpful if you could fill out the form below.
